Inspiration for your next trek
During 20 years of development and aid work in Nepal, we lived for many years beyond the reach of roads. We often found ourselves walking along off-the-beaten paths to reach remote villages, where the only option was to knock on someone’s door and ask if we could stay the night. Those footpaths, and those nights we spent around the fireside in someone’s kitchen enjoying their friendly hospitality, are a memory that we treasure - even more than the mountain views. For those of you who are seeking a similar experience, we share some of the best treks we have discovered, off-the-beaten trails which take you to remote hidden villages and untouristed Himalayan viewpoints.

"Fair Tread" Trekking Style
Our treks lead you through untouched villages where subsistence farming is still common. By visiting this less-developed part of western Nepal, and staying in family-run homestays and local 'teashop' lodges, you will ensure that the bulk of your expenditure goes to those who need it most. We call this style of trekking 'fair-tread'. It is environmentally-friendly, and can also help to reduce gender and caste discrimination.
